The 8th Annual Morningside Mile is coming back on Sunday, March 25. Kicking off at 2:00 pm, the race is immediately followed by a block party until 7:00 pm with music provided by My Friend Ian’s Band, and many family friendly activities. Doc Chey’s popular noodle eating contest returns, along with a jump rope competition, corn hole, face painting, balloon animals and more.
This is the only one-mile chip timed race in Atlanta, and features cash prizes for top runners and a beer or an Alon’s cookie for runners, as well as a new ‘Just for Fun’ half-mile for children under 10 years old. Decorate your bike, stroller, wagon, or just yourself and follow the APD motorcycle to launch the block party.
The Morningside Lenox Park Association has joined with Virginia-Highland Civic Association this year to raise funds to improve the North Highland Corridor through our historic neighborhoods. The race course has changed as well. This year it follows North Highland from the start near the YWCA at 957 N. Highland to Morningside Village—times should be even more competitive over this gently rolling course with minimal elevation gain.
Register for the race to get your shirt and a chance to win cash, gift cards and bragging rights.
Volunteers are needed—in exchange for a two hour shift, all volunteers receive a free t-shirt plus a chance to fulfill community service requirements for students. Click here to pick your time slot.
