Congratulations to Coach Derek Hooley for receiving a $4,000 health and wellness grant through Fuel Up to Play60. Be on the lookout for more information regarding Inman’s exciting new Wellness and Nutrition Club that will be formed and supported by the grant money.
Congratulations to Inman teachers Wendy Baker, Beth Todd, Jessica Hughes, Vernoll Bond, Maggie Edson, Melissa Nunnink, Laketa Scott, Jimmy Taylor, and Chris Wharton! These teachers were selected to attend Atlanta’s first Annual Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET2) on Saturday, November 15th. This event will be held at the W. Hotel Atlanta Downtown.
The goal of ECET² is to celebrate effective teachers and to build a strong network of teacher leaders, working together to elevate the practice and the profession. This special convening was designed by teachers, for teachers. The agenda will feature teacher -facilitated workshops focused on teacher-leadership development and collaboration to support instructional expertise.
The teachers were selected based on a distribution of teacher effectiveness using our district’s value-added measures, Teacher Assessment on Performance Standards and/or a combination of the two.
Congratulations to Sara Looman and Mark Washington named 2012 Georgia Master Teachers by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Sara Looman (sixth grade) and Mark Washington (seventh grade) were the only Atlanta Public Schools teachers to receive the master teacher certificates. The certificate recognizes teachers who demonstrate excellence in the area of student gains. Teachers must have at least three years of experience on a Georgia Clear Renewable Certificate to be eligible. We are honored to have these decorated teachers among our talented Inman Faculty.
