This spring, we will be electing representatives to serve on our GO Team. The GO Team is a crucial aspect to the success of our school. This diverse team, representing all aspects of our school community (parents, teachers, and community members), develops our strategic plan, approves our budget, and requests flexibilities, and more. Our GO Team is able to address the unique needs of our students.
We have 2 parent/guardian positions and 2 non-supervisory instructional positions open. Interested in serving? Find more information about what it means to serve on a GO Team, declare your candidacy, and material on the charter system at www.apsstrongschools.com

Applications have just opened up for the 2018-2019 volunteer season. If you know any students who would be interested in interacting with the public and sharing their knowledge of natural history, please pass this opportunity on to them. We provide training to help the students learn about natural history topics and how to interact with museum guests of all ages. Applications are due by March 1, 2018 and can be found on the website. Please also pass this email to any other teachers or counselors that may have interested students as well. Below is a little more information about the program to give you some background on our teen volunteer program.
The Fernbank Ultimate Naturalist (FUN) volunteer program, is an opportunity for youth to be directly involved in public events and education at Fernbank Museum. FUN volunteers run discovery carts, sharing information about biology, archaeology, paleontology, nanotechnology, and more with visitors of all ages. They also help with educational programming in the Naturalist Center, activities on special family event days, other special projects, and have opportunities to tour and work behind the scenes.
The FUN program is a one-year commitment (June – May) and teens are required to volunteer at least 45 hours per year, which works out to once a month during the school year and twice a month in the summer. Volunteer ages range from 12 years old (must be 13 before Sept 1, 2018) to 17 years old. Volunteers age out of the program when they graduate high school or when they are 18 years old at the start of the next FUN year (June). The FUN program is very competitive, accepting applications once a year and interviewing and accepting a select number of applicants.
Inman’s new Journalism Club. Students will navigate the twists and turns of journalism, from researching facts, to crafting a narrative, to finding their “beat,” to articulating the voice of the Inman community. Co-led by Mr. Peterson, seventh grade ELA teacher, and Cathy Huyghe, Inman parent and journalist for Forbes and Inc., the Journalism Club is first of all an opportunity for students to practice their writing skills. We’ll also explore the difference between “beats” (News, Features, Sports, Opinion, Cartooning, etc.), we’ll learn interviewing techniques, and we’ll discover how journalists can express the interests and concerns of our community. Meetings will be held every Tuesday starting January 30 from 4:30-5:45 PM in room 3065.
The PTO operating budget needs your generous tax-deductible support by September 30! The suggested amount is $100 per child at Inman, but any amount is appreciated. Any amount over $20 includes a PTO family membership. $10 includes a PTO individual membership.JOIN / DONATE
