Dear Inman Families,
We are excited to welcome you to the 2016-17 school year. Inman Middle School has a longstanding history of strong academic success with a wonderful faculty and staff, outstanding students, and involved parents.
This year, our attendance is estimated at 1,100. As you may know, Inman has lost Title 1 funding, so this year’s PTA operating budget will need your generous support. Fundraising is critical, given the number of students and the demographics we serve. Our needs are many and the Inman PTA is an important resource, providing funding and support for teachers and students throughout the school year.
In lieu of multiple, small fundraisers (that are taxing to families and volunteers), the PTA is asking for a one-time donation (Annual Fund Letter 2016-17) of financial support. If every family gives $100 per child to our Annual Fund, we will have enough money to fund our programs with no other major fundraising events this year. We understand that not everyone can give at that level, but any gift will go a long way to helping our students and teachers. All donations are tax deductible. Because funding needs are urgent to planning our school year, our goal is have 100% participation by September 30th.
Along with financial support, we need your time! Volunteering in middle school is welcome and necessary. Great schools need great volunteers, so please email email@example.com and we’ll find the ideal fit for you.
On a social note, the PTA hosts some terrific events through the year. In the fall, we have the infamous BBQ & Blues in John Howell Park and December is our annual Frosty 5K — the coolest run in town.

Dear Inman Parents and Caregivers,
Atlanta Public Schools initiated voluntary water quality testing in 113 properties including your child’s school as well as stadiums and adminstrative facilities. This testing was conducted as a proactive precautionary measure to ensure that our drinking water is safe for students and employees. We had no reason to believe that there was elevated lead in any district water source, however, in the wake of recent national reports about the discovery of lead in some public buildings, we believed it was an important action to take.
While we are still awaiting the results for many of our schools, as of today, we have the results for 750 water sources that were sampled. Of those 750 water sources, 23 initially came back with elevated levels of lead. Each of these sources was immediately isolated from public use and corrective actions are being implemented to address the elevated levels. In some cases, a simple flushing of a fountain or sink was all that was required to produce a clear report. None of these sources will be opened for public consumption until they are tested as cleared. At Inman Middle School, one water fountain and three restroom sinks came back with elevated levels of lead; they have been flushed and are scheduled for retesting.
Although the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not require these tests; the tests were conducted to the agency’s strict standards. APS hired a private, professional environmental firm to oversee the federal standards testing for lead. If there are any additional elevated levels of lead found in buildings, APS will immediately implement corrective actions and develop a plan to provide safe water for students and employees in every building. Test results are coming in daily and remediations are being made throughout the summer.
APS continues to be committed to the safety and well-being of its students and employees. The district will continue to take appropriate steps to ensure that all water sources have been cleared for the start of the 2016-2017 school year.

Inman’s Fine Arts Department is proud to announce the premier of its first Broadway Junior Collection Musical, “Into the Woods”! Our talented performers will take the stage in this popular and riveting tale on May 19th and 20th at 7:00pm in the Inman auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students (cash only) and will be sold this week before school and during the lunch periods (there will be a table in the cafeteria). Dear 7th Grade Parents:
Next year Inman will offer two different science classes for 8th grade students: 1) Traditional 8th grade Physical Science class and 2) 9th grade Physical Science class. Read the letter below from Dr. Bockman.
