Grady Arts Presents: Almost, Maine

Posted on 01 Nov 2017

Grady Arts - Almost MaineA real romantic comedy.

Thursday – Saturday, November 9-11, 2017 ● 7:00PM
Vincent Murray Auditorium
$8 Students ● $12 Adults

Purchase tickets at the door or online.

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a town that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States — it’s almost in Canada. And it almost doesn’t exist. Because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it’s just… Almost.

One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same.

ALMOST, MAINE: It’s love. But not quite.

Grady AP Night/MOWR Night/Advanced Courses Night

Posted on 23 Oct 2017

AP Night/MOWR Night/Advanced Courses Night is Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at 6:30 PM. This year’s format :

  • 6:30 PM – Students and parents (may or may not) start in the theater to establish the ground rules.
  • RISING 9TH GRADERS AND PARENTS will remain in the THEATER for the AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY chat. Technology may work for you, Mr. Wharton… Let us know if you need it…
  • Parents and students interested in DUAL-ENROLLMENT, etc. will go to the BLACK BOX THEATER and chat with the PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELORS. Technology may work for you as well…
  • ALL others will report to the PERFORMANCE GYM for the AP Exhibition. We will set up tables around the room so that parents and students are able to explore “tangibles”: displays of what you do in your class; videos (let me know if you need technology so we can create a plan); live students (versus “non-live” students) to chat with, etc… Do whatever you need to do to make the course “come alive” for passersby.
  • AP CAPSTONE – AP Seminar and AP Research may want to go a step further… We will have the CLASSROOM (the old Health Room) inside the PERFORMANCE GYM available for you…if you want it. Parents may want a setting that is more intimate to talk about Capstone, AND I have heard that you want to do something engaging and “over-the-top” for this experience. Let me know…

Richard Hannay is at a London theatre, attending a demonstration of the remarkable powers of “Mr. Memory”, a man with a photographic memory, when a fight breaks out and a shot is fired. In the ensuing panic, he finds himself holding a frightened Annabella Schmidt, who talks him into taking her back to his flat. There, she tells him that she is a spy, being chased by assassins out to kill her. And thus begins the search for The 39 Steps.
Join Grady High School in the Black Box Theatre for the one act production of Patrick Barlow’s adaptation of the Alfred Hitchcock film by the same name.
